The weather this weekend in Chicago was beautiful. To celebrate the onset of spring, my boyfriend and I decided to put together a picnic and hang out in nearby Wicker Park. We brought with us a blanket and some snacks I found from home: dried apricots, aged cheddar cheese, a green apple, and roasted cashews. 

In addition to the snacks we brought we decided to pick up a few more things at the nearby Italian deli and espresso bar, Cipollina. Cipollina is an offshoot of Milk and Honey on Division St. in Wicker Park. It is smaller than milk and honey, but they specialize in Italian meats and cheeses, which is exactly what we wanted to accompany our picnic. We opted for a small piece of Humboldt Fog cheese, a creamy, soft-surface cheese with a tangy flavor. Vegetable ash runs along the center of the cheese that gives it a distinctive taste. Along with the cheese we ordered prosciutto and a freshly baked ciabatta roll.

The picnic was a delicious and relaxing way to enjoy the beautiful, springtime weather!
